Homecoming festivities began with a bon- fire Thursday night at the baseball dia- mond. An army of football rooters assem- bled, determined to fire up the Bees. The Juniors won the float competition, the Sophomore effigy was burned, and the evening was topped by the crowning of the Queen.

Queen Peggy Abell and her attendants El- len Webster, Amy Cornelius, and Jenny Riegger reigned in splender. After the smoke of battle had cleared, the Bees had won 36-3. The super efforts of both offense and defense showed the Bulldogs who was BIG, BAD, and BOSS.

The dance held in the gym the following evening proved to be a big success also. Students, past and present, danced to the music of a local group, The Grumpys.

Presenting The Class Of 1973

Senior year, the beginning and the end.

We look over the past years at MHS and see how we progressed from the meager Fresh- men that we were, to the confident Seniors that we are. We feel as if we are one, but yet we could stand alone and still keep our con- fidence in ourselves as a person.

We started as a unified group from the first time we shouted our "Senior Rah!", we con- tinued on to take our place as the leaders in our school. We tried, and feel we succeeded in establishing a good example for the under- classmen to follow.

We put a lot into our years at MHS. But yet we feel we have also taken a lot from you MHS, you are responsible for the knowledge, ability, and memories we will have forever.

May 19, 1973 Will long be remembered in the hearts and minds of four lovely people; Gary Winkler and Lee Ann Boyle were crowned King and Queen with attendants Julie Caudle and Scott Gardner completing the prom royalty.

Festivities started around 9:00 p.m. with the mu- sic by the “Fully Assembled". Freshmen girls proved to be a help when they served punch and cookies. Topping the evening was the crowning of Lee Ann and Gary which proved to be a beautiful ending of Prom.

Juniors Get It Together

President Tom Thoburn and fellow officers: Diane Favret, Lynne Rudes, and Polly Koch led the class of 74 through an outstanding year. One of the greatest accomplishments was defeating the Seniors in Ftome- coming float competition. Striving to enlarge their class treasury the Juniors held a successful chili dinner, sold memo calendars and carnations and also tended the concession stands during football, basketball, and wrestling matches.

The Freshman class is the beginning— the beginning of four years at Medina, of new ideas and projects, of new spirit and of more ways to make Medina a better school. The class of 76 adjusted well to the hectic schedule of high school life. On the nights of April 6th and 7th, MHS presented its second annual musical production. This year, the drama and music departments presented Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Oklahoma" before turn-away crowds. Curly and Laurey (Dean Bryenton and Terri Semmelhaack) are sitting in their "Surry With the Fringe on Top," singing "Oklahoma" with the rest of the Oklahoma crew, jud Fry (Andy Greisinger) is shown sitting in his "Lonely Room." Ali Hakim (Terry Farren) is seen giving a Persian good-bye kiss to Ado Annie (Karen Mellert). Gertie Cummings (Gail Burke) is holding hands with Curly. Aunt Eller (Patti An- derson) stops the fight that has broken out. Will (Kent Bixler) is describing those Kansas City girls. Accompanying them were male and female ensembles, the Concert Choir, male and female dancers, and the Oklahoma Orchestra, not to mention the many others involved in making "Oklahom d" the great success it was. The drama directors were Miss Donna Stranscak, Mrs. Marge Miller, and Mrs. Bobbe Burke. The orchestra was directed by Mr. Charles Carey.

Cooperative Office Education is a program designed to prepare students for office careers. These senior students spent half of their school day working as secretaries or in other related positions.

High points of the year's activities were participation in a regional conference at Atwood Lake Lodge, a state con- vention in Columbus, and occupational competitive events. An Employer Appreciation Banquet was held at D'Amico's Restaurant to honor the local business people who provided training stations for the 23 COE girls.

The Work— Study vocational program is a job skills training program for Juniors and Seniors. Students in work-study combine "book learning" and work experience into one course. Students, when they graduate, will have two years of a half day on the job training on many different kinds of jobs in the community.

All graduation requirements are met so stu- dents do receive a high school diploma. Students can select other elective courses from the school curriculum. Their job train- ing is worked around their academic course load when possible.

It is hoped that this program will help get young men and women started in their ca- reer area.
