NEW MUSIC CONCERTS

1986-87 CONCERT SEASON

A MESSAGE FROM THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Each year my association with NEW MUSIC CONCERTS brings me the pleasure of making music with many of Canada’s finest musicians. We experience the creative energies of a great number of distinguished composers from around the world; together, we have developed a unique and highly respected organization, the envy of contemporary music societies everywhere.

| would like to personally thank you, our audience, without whom this would not have been possible. | would also like to invite you to subscribe to the 1986-87 series, which | think you'll find to be one of our most thought-provoking and stimulating seasons. In this International Year of Canadian Music, we really are “Bringing the world of new music to Canada”, and “Taking the new music of Canada to the world”. Join us.

ARNE NORDHEIM Is one of the great post-war innovators of Norwegian musical life. This Survey of his most recent work confirms his position as one of Scandinavia’s most significant composers. With unerring instinct and panache, he combines and synthesizes seemingly dis- parate elements into a language which is manifestly his own. “Murphy's Law’-man STEVE TITTLE, our guest from Halifax, adds his own unique perspective to a provocative evening.
